Independence Day
230 years ago, one of the greatest documents affirming the supremacy of men over their ruler was submitted. Written by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration of Independence is still the best living revolutionary document in existence.
Please, if you want to celebrate the Fourth of July without giving GWB a pat on the back, read it slowly. Savor the words and the sheer brilliance of the logic, and the enormous fortitude of the argument within.

You're right, this document has never been more pertinent than it is today. Our country has been through some trying periods before, and hopefully we'll get through this one.

Yes, I think it is an important document for people to familiarize themselves with. I keep a copy of both the Declaration and the Constitution with me both in my work vehicle and whenever I travel.
What would be wrong if I wanted to Give G.W.B. a pat on the back? No attack here since 9/11, good economy, etc. I hope you do a posting on the jobs #'s that’s due to come out soon.

I'm still bitter they let it happen. No Air Force protecting military headquarters etc. Caught with pants down.
In terms of the economy, the growth you see is largely due to mergers and acquisitions and real estate values going up in response to low interest rates and creative mortgages.
Working families have seen little or no imporvement in wages. I believe that the economy will show it's true colors soon.
The jobs numbers are still coming. Today's was 313K initial jobs claims last week. That is 2,000 less than expected. However, the prior week was revised up to 315 from 313 so you can expect that something similar will happen. Unemployment and non-farm payrolls hit tomorrow, at which point, I will report.
