Rove to be Indicted
Jason Leopold reports that Karl Rove has informed the White House that he will indeed be indicted. It is not clear if he will be indicted only on perjury charges, or if Fitzgerald will include a more serious obstruction of justice charge.
This has not been confirmed in the major media, but as Mike at Born at the Crest of the Empire pointed out, Leopold is way out in front on this one, and he hasn't been proven wrong yet. I wouldn't bet against him. Thanks for being on the ball, Mike.
I'm sticking with next Friday as the day. I really thought it was too soon this Friday. Now that the information is out, the indictment is probably imminent.

While Leopold put the story in print, the sense I was getting from listening to other reporters and talking heads on TV was that this news was already making the rounds behind the scenes. I sense an inevitablity to Rove's indictment this time that wasn't there back in October when we were awaiting Libby's/Rove's fate. Some of the TV talking heads are talking in terms of when Rove gets indicted, not if. Now of course these prognosticators could be wrong, but when David Shuster first went public by saying he was convinced Rove was going to be indicted, that's when I first accepted the inevitability of it. Shuster is a very good reporter and a very smart man. I trust him and respect him and I didn't think he would go out on a limb like that unless he was sure.
Of course, i could be wrong about all of this too. I thought the indictment would be announced yesterday and I was wrong, wrong, wrong. So please take all of the above with liberal grains of salt.

You were wrong about the day. That is all. I think it will be next frideay, and I have been thinking that all alopng.
I might be wrong too, but that is the liberal in us both. We don't believe in absolutes. We will believe theat there will be an indictment when there is an indictment.
No sooner.

Check back at my place. There's more this afternoon/evening from Leopold. Again, he's out there on his own, but....

Another one bites the dust. Can anyone remember the last time we had a scandal/corruption free administration?

Well, the touchstone of when this is going to officially break is that fact that we've got a major, prime-time policy address on immigration scheduled for tomorrow night. Can anyone say, "damage control"?

So Monday is Fitzmas?

I think best bet is Tuesday, but honestly, my confidence in this is waning a bit.
It APPEARS that Rove may have cancelled his AEI appearance this morning, but at the same time, the defense team offered a flat denial(to friendly reporters who they called.) Certainly, Leopold could be right and they could be lying, but I'm finding my certainty wavering a bit.
If Rove did cancel the AEI appearance, that would be a big deal.
