One thing that I've learned to count on from Bush appointees is their ability to embroil themselves in problems and scandal without help from anyone. Paul "Iraq will be able to fund their own reconstruction virtually immediately" Wolfowitz is now facing pressure to resign for allegedly securing pay raises for his lover, Shaha Riza who claims SHE is the victim in all this. Predictably, Bush supports Wolfowitz despite the pressure. Wolfowitz has admitted his mistake, which I guess puts him first in line for the next Medal of Freedom.

All four panelists on Mclaughlin Group, as well as Mclaughlin himself, agree that Wolfowitz will be forced to resign.

That won't affect his chances for a medal and a promotion though.

  • Did Mclaughlin, or anybody in the MSM for that matter, mention that Wolfowitz and been doing end runs around the World Bank directores to cancel programs he doesn't like?

He definitely needs to be forced out, but for much more than just padding his girlfiend's salary.

  • It is a thoroughly corrupt cast of characters, isn't it?

  • Kvatch,

It seems to be being completely ignored. Mclaughin saved it for predictions, so no commentary. I haven't been following his time at the World Bank, but what you say doesn't surprise me. It looks like his underlings are moving quickly to get rid of him.

If you wrote these last 6 years as fiction, people would laugh and say it isn't plausible enough.

  • The architects of the neocon house of madness have reached the limits of my comprehension and endurance thus making me void of the suitable words to convey my utter dismay.

Even if the knowledge, that Wolfowitz is made to face some of his (lesser) wrong doings, is giving me a temporary satisfaction, the knowledge of the immorality and perhaps even crimes committed by his ilk in Washington still continnues to bring me down. When will it be enough for the American people to stop this Texas Alpha male and the rest of his pack of the deranged neocon wolves? Enough already!

  • Pekka,

I know your question is rhetorical, but the answer is never.

Like small children, they will dig in their heels and lie until the candy is pryed from their sweaty little hands.... in just less than two years now.

  • I think you're wrong about any wrongdoing by Wolfowitz, but I need more facts (and energy) to take you to task.
